When the surgery is closed

Lister Medical Centre is open Monday to Friday only. The surgery opens at 8:00am Monday to Friday and closes at 6:30pm. On Saturday morning and all weekend, the surgery is closed. It is also closed on Bank Holidays. These opening hours apply across the country as a result of the new GP contract that has been negotiated nationally.

The telephone is manned from 8:00am to 6:30pm Monday to Friday. Outside of these times you can access medical advice and assistance in the following ways:

NHS Direct - a 24 hour nurse led organisation which can provide medical advice and assistance by telephoning 0845 4647.
To contact a doctor - (out-of-hours) telephone 0208 911 1133. This service is run by the Partnership of East London Co-operatives (PELC) Ltd, a private company which provides the out-of-hours arrangements for GP's in Harlow and Epping, locally, but also operates elsewhere for many other practices.
The out-of-hours medical centre is located at St. Margaret's Hospital, Epping, although the Walk-in-Centre is open in Harlow (see below). The co-operative also provides a doctor at the Harlow Walk-in-Centre.
The Walk-in-Centre - situated in Wych Elm, Harlow (almost opposite the front entrance of Princess Alexandra Hospital) the service is open seven days a week The opening times are 7:00am-10:00pm Monday to Friday. At weekends the service also remains open to 10.00pm. A nurse led service, the centre is available for nursing and minor medical problems and injuries. The service is also capable of providing medication for a range of conditions subject to strict protocols.
