The Nursing Staff

Alison Gamblin

Alison has been in nursing for 35 years. She first gained experience in general practice working for 11 years in Braintree. She moved to the Lister Medical Centre in 2004.

Alison carries out a full range of general treatment room duties and has past experience of treating minor ailments. A lot of her time is devoted to running clinics in long-term disease management such as CHD; heart failure; asthma; COPD and diabetes. She is involved in training new nurses in these areas.

Having recently completed her course, she is now a non-medical prescriber.

Louise Whiteley

Louise has been nursing for 29 years with mainly hospital-based surgical experience. She was working as a Senior Staff Nurse on a surgical ward at PAH for 16 years before joining the Practice in June 2006.

Louise's other qualifications include ENB 998 (teaching) and ENB D32/33 (assessors), and in February 2007 she completed a cervical cytology course.

Elsabe Coericius

Val Quelch

Val has undertaken a recognised course and is now trained as Health Care Assistant with NVQ (Grade 3) qualifications. Val has a smoking cessation level 2 certificate and assists the practice nurses in asthma and diabetic clinics. Val is the practice's safety officer.

The Health Care Assistants run all new registration health checks and have also been trained in the use of the spirometer, a machine used in the diagnosis of chronic respiratory disease, and they undertake ECG's at the request of the doctors.

Kim Niven

Kim has undertaken a recognised course and is now trained as a Health Care Assistant with NVQ (Grade 3) qualifications. Kim has a smoking cessation level 2 certificate and also assists doctors in minor surgery as well as assisting the practice nurses in asthma and diabetic clinics.

Sue Chambers

Sue completed her training as a Health Care Assistant at another surgery and moved to Lister in January 2007. Sue has been trained in the use of our Spirometry machine, used for diagnosis of chronic respiratory disease, and also undertakes ECG checks for the Doctors.

Sue is part of our Smoking Cessation team, is involved with New Patient Health Checks and also assists the Doctors in Minor Ops. Having completed her training at PAH in Phlebotomy, Sue now runs our “Earlybird” Blood Test clinics for fasting patients.
